We have a program called Pennies for Patients - it's a spare change collection program for Elementary, Middle and High Schools. Schools choose 3 weeks in February or March to hold their campaign and we match the schools with a Society "Hero" so that their students can put a face with the disease. Kids seem to be more excited about the program when they can raise money in another child's honor. My daughter Delaney Diggs was a patient at Children's for Ewing's Sarcoma - she was also a friend of Brittany Crabtree's and we both came to love her and her family very much.
We were saddened to learn of Brittany's passing last Wednesday - and as we moved to Michigan over the summer, we were unable to travel to be at her service, which I was told was quite beautiful and paid wonderful respect to the absolute wonder that Brittany was - strong and courageous to the end.
I wanted to tell you Delaney and I share your sadness in her passing, but we too believe she is in heaven with Him in His perfect love. I believe her pain is finally ended.
May God bless you in your fight and in your sorrows. Please know Brittany will be missed by many of us - and loved forever.

I am so glad that you are doing well! How wonderful to be home in the hills. There is nothing better than your own bed and a leisurly bath in your own tub! HCCC had a choir camp last week, and I attended the concert. Wow, all of you peers have become young women, as i know you have too. I remember when you guys were the "little kids" when Emily was a senior chorus member. It was fun seeing everyone. It will be no time at all until you will be up and running and back in the swing of things. We are so proud of you that you reminded us to remember the children still in the hospital. We are going as a group to Children's Hospital tomorrow morning. We have a wagon signed from our club honoring you, and we have many items to give the hospital including coloring books, books, crayons, stuffed animals and many other things. My name is Angie Beglin. My little girl Emma Joy is 2 and 3/4 years old. She was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on April 5th, 2004. She is just starting her hard chemotherapy drugs. She has a different type of leukemia than yours. Emma hopefully will not need a bone marrow transplant. If everything goes as it has been, she will receive chemotherapy for around 23-24 months. She know she is doing well because of prayer and the power of God. I had the privilege of talking to your grandpa Gary and he told me all you have been through. God has surely been looking over you. I will keep you in my prayers. I hope your 100 days go by quick. Emma was on J5 over the 4th of July weekend. We may have walked by your room when she went to see Nemo in the recreation room.
